CEDIA – Best Home Theater - BRONZE - 2009
CEDIA – Best Hidden Installation - BRONZE - 2009
The winning home is located in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles. In two different rooms, flat screen televisions rise from hidden locations when needed, and descend into obscurity when not needed. Crestron touchscreen controls in both rooms make operation simple and intuitive. All electronics are hidden in a centralized mechanical room.
Electronic House – Best Home of the Year - GOLD - 2009
Electronic House – Best Outdoor Space - SILVER - 2009
Awarded by Electronic House magazine in their annual nationwide competition. This prestigious award recognized a clever outdoor audio video entertainment system installed in Malibu, complete with a 46” SunBrite LCD TV, Sonance Architectural Series speakers, and hidden speakers around the pool and patio deck. All electronics are controlled by a Crestron home automation system. Construction by Scott Halley of Scott Halley & Associates.
CEA TechHome – Innovation Award - PLATINUM - 2009
Awarded by the Consumer Electronics Association, the largest trade organization representing the electronics industry. One of DSI’s projects in Santa Barbara, CA, won this prestigious award for an ingenious new implementation of a Crestron home control system. Instead of conventional in-wall touchscreens in various locations, the entire home is controlled from wireless touchscreens that give the homeowner intuitive control of audio/video, lighting, climate, and security. By using only wireless controls, the touchscreens are hidden from view when not needed and therefore the specific architectural and interior design aesthetic goals were met. Special privacy concerns were addressed and a unique solution to meet the differing requests for both the husband and wife were also awarded. Architecture by Don Nulty, AIA. Interior Design by Sandra Canada. Construction by Rich Coffin of RHC Builders, Inc.
